What Fisar Can Process
Fisar handles far more than documents. It redacts names across text and spreadsheets, and detects and blurs faces in images and video.
Most SAR tools stop at text. Fisar does not.
When you create a request, Fisar works across everything the connector returns - and it has a separate pipeline, Media AI, for images, audio and video.

Fisar recognises name variants. If you tell it to preserve "Joe Bloggs", it will also leave "Joseph Michael Bloggs" unredacted - while still redacting the other people named in the same document.
Images, audio and video
Media is handled through Process media rather than a standard SAR. You can attach the result to an existing SAR, or run it on its own.
Images
Detects every face in a photograph. You choose which faces stay visible; the rest are blurred.
Video
Detects faces and tracks them as they move through the footage, so a blur follows the person frame to frame.
Audio can also be uploaded for processing through the same Process media route.
How face selection works
Fisar inverts the usual approach. Rather than picking what to hide, you select the faces to keep visible - everything else is blurred by default. This fails safe: forget to select someone and they end up protected, not exposed.
Face detection is assistive, not infallible. The same person may be detected more than once in a video as their angle changes, and you may need to select each instance to keep them visible. Always check the result before delivering it.
Video processing times
Video is the heaviest thing Fisar does. A short clip can take up to one to two hours, though it is often much quicker. Processing runs server-side - you can close the browser and come back to it.
There are practical limits on video length. If you are planning to process long footage, speak to Fisar first.
What this means in practice
A SAR that includes CCTV stills, a staff photograph or a recorded meeting does not need to be handled outside the platform. It runs through Fisar, gets reviewed by your DPO in the same workspace, and is delivered in the same secure archive.
