Media SAR: Images

Detect faces in a photograph, choose which stay visible, and deliver a redacted image.

Fisar detects every face in an image and blurs them - except the ones you choose to keep visible.

Watch the full walkthrough

Media processing requires a DPO account. It cannot be done from the organisation dashboard.

Step by step

Click New SAR

Then choose Process media.

Drag and drop the image

Drop the file into the upload area. Fisar recognises it and shows a preview.

Attach to an existing SAR (optional)

Link the media to a request you have already created, or leave it standalone. You can keep attaching further images to the same SAR.

Continue and name the requester

Enter the requester's name, then click Create Request.

Wait for detection

Open SAR Monitoring to watch. The request moves into the detection phase while faces are found.

Select faces to keep visible

Fisar shows every face it detected. Click the ones that should stay visible - typically the requester.

Proceed with redaction

Everything you did not select is blurred.

Download and check

Download the finished file and confirm the right faces were protected.

Selection is inverted - and that is deliberate

You select the faces to keep visible, not the ones to hide.

This fails safe. If you overlook someone, they are blurred rather than exposed. The cost of a mistake is an over-redacted image, not a data breach.

Attaching media to a SAR

Images can be attached to an existing request, which is useful when a document-based SAR also turns up photographs. The media is processed separately but travels with the request.
